@Madao I mean... technically it could have an easy to use combo-plug instead of a dock which has all the same abilities but that still seems less convenient than a dock since the dock is just so easy to plop in and grab out.

Regardless, the leak, even if true, just says if won't have a 'Switch-like dock'. It's easy to imagine they might change the shape or exact properties of a dock but still have something which is basically a dock. At most that leak is claiming the new dock won't be back-compatible with Switch 1.

The idea is a non-starter. The only benefit to streaming games is that it allows you to have one machine that is not constrained by power/battery/weight and have its output display on a device that is constrained. The Wii U as a concept worked, to the extent that it did, because in 2012 there weren't portable consoles that could do "HD Console" visuals. The other way around at the time existed, it was called the Playstation TV, and it was an even bigger failure than the Wii U

Also there's just the sheer bandwidth of HDMI vs WiFi. Assuming HDMI 2.1 a "dock" would be able to do 4K, 120Hz with HDR uncompressed with all the bells and whistles. 10s of Gbps of bandwidth on tap. WiFi on the other hand is pretty much universally sub 1Gbps, often very sub 1Gbps. So not even close to carrying even a HDMI 1.0 tier signal. Even before you consider errors inherent in wireless transmissions. So there'd need to be compression, which requires processing, which adds latency. You'd also, by definition, get a lower quality image out of it than you would have if it had been a raw signal. And even then, you'd still need some device that physically plugs into your TV and also somewhere to charge your console when its not in use

............. or you could just jam a HDMI adaptor into a bit of plastic and plug that into your TV

Streaming is dead in the water. If you want such options get a Gaming PC Desktop or Laptop to handle those power needs. Only those two hardware are the one that can do True 4K output requirements nothing else has been able to upscale those two behemoths as of current.

Probably doesn't mean anything but a gaming industry analyst has just put out this cryptic tweet which, according to many, MANY different people, seems to be hinting towards the release of a Zelda remake before year's end.

Maybe Wind Waker/Twilight Princess have a chance after all?

@Fizza I would be more impressed if a Zelda remake hadn't been predicted every 2 months for the last several years. Also ... it makes zero sense to be released this year. There presumably Isn't even another direct. Why would they shadow-drop a Zelda game with no real advertisement after everyone already did their holiday shopping?

I'm still predicting 2D Zelda late 2024 for the new console.

@Fizza
It makes sense for a fill in game at the end of a generation. Although I hope they would be packaged together, I would be willing to pay full price for both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

Did the tweet get deleted though?

@blindsquarel The tweet literally just said 'Z R 2023' which people were interpreting as a Zelda remake coming out in 2023.

Would be cool if true. But I doubt it. We're already on the verge of November. When would they even announce?

Maybe they were actually just tweeting about the ZR button. 🥸

@FishyS
Yeah, but if he deleted the tweet it could have been a retraction of sorts. Although that’s probably analyzing a tweet way to much on my part.

@NintendoByNature
They could announce it during the game awards.

Oh please let this be real! This is my dream scenario for a Switch 2. The two biggest issues with the Switch IMO are the lack of a clamshell design to let it fit in your pocket easier and the lack of dual screens to emulate the games/setup of the DS, 3DS, and Wii U. Detachable screens would elegantly solve both of those issues. To see Nintendo actually putting legitimate thought into the ideal is unbelievable. I hope we get an actual system like this. Even if not for the Switch 2, I'd still like to see an actual Nintendo hybrid with this gimmick at some point.

@Bolt_Strike maybe the second screen will be an optional add-on accessory. Though that wouldn't fix your pocket issue.

I'm not going to get my hopes up, given that Nintendo tends to file patents for things they don't use. They did this for the Switch's initial concept originally. I'd love for this to be a thing though, since dual screen gaming is the peak experience imo.
